Stripes never go out of fashion, but they do change from season to season. This year, vertical stripes were hot and were seen in a lot of designs. We were hoping to get this post out a little sooner... but man does time fly! We had other exciting things to share with you that ended up going out first.

Some of the most popular items we saw in this striped trend were jumpsuits and pants. For this look, we kept it classic and chose a black and white monochromatic color scheme. However, another common theme in this trend was bright and bold colors which seemed to have been inspired by the 70s.

Palazzo pants became super popular in the early 70s and my mom actually mentioned she would wear them! Wide leg pants have become super popular again, and these are extra flowy. I got mine from Forever 21, and I recommend looking at this brand for any wide leg pieces. This year especially, it’s been my go to for trendy affordable items (and I’ve done all my shopping online)! The ones I bought have slits on the sides, so I usually used them more for night outs.

This summer, tie front crop tops were also seen everywhere, so of course I wore one too! I love how cute and sexy they are. I also recommend wearing them with a lacy bustier, and have the lace peek a bit, for a touch of edgy femininity.

I’ve been diggin’ square/hexagonal sunnies, and got the ones I’m wearing here from Perverse (they have now rebranded to Thomas James LA)! They have the cutest store in Culver city. Check them out for affordable trendy sunglasses.

Jumpsuits are fun and so easy to dress up or down, allowing you to take your look from day to night. I dressed up my striped jumpsuit by pairing it with a blazer that has a vegan leather collar trim detail which complimented my faux leather bucket bag. Adding more formal pieces, like a blazer can take your summer piece and turn it into something more practical for a work environment or night out.

If I wanted to completely casual down my look, I could simply remove the blazer and throw on a denim jacket and swap out my bucket bag for a basket weave bag. As you know we’re such big fans of SugarFix Baublebar and these have to be some of my favorite tassel earrings from their line. I love that they added the slightest pop of color to my monochromatic look.
